Open Sundays is a campaigning group. We are a broad alliance of consumers, retailers, businesses, community groups and other people who care about the economy. We do not belong to any political party or affiliation, and anybody is more than welcome to join us. We are all united around one simple shared belief: that the law needs to change so that we can shop on Sundays.
If you’d like to find out more about our campaign, please contact us. We are registered at Companies House with company number 8730553.
Our aim is simple. We want the Sunday trading laws to be changed so that we consumers have a liberalised Sunday trading environment where retailers can determine their opening hours and consumers have greater choice on when and where they do their shopping.
Unfortunately, we can’t change anything by ourselves - we will need to convince Parliament, the government and MPs of all parties. But once MPs start to appreciate the groundswell of support for Open Sundays, they’ll soon side with us: after all, they’ll be chasing all of our votes in the next general election. We can really influence the policies of all the main parties.
For far too long, we consumers have been ignored by the politicians. Those opposing Sunday shopping are well-organised and well-funded. They’ve always been very good at pressurising politicians and other opinion formers. Well, we won’t stand for it anymore. It’s high time that the voice of the majority was heard.
Open Sundays is the only lobbying group dedicated to liberalising the Sunday trading laws. Finally, we consumers can join forces to bring about real change. We have a long way to go. But with your help, we’ll get there.
